Cottage Information

In order for the owners to maintain their commitment to Atwood Island and the French River, some rules and guidelines are listed below. Please note that as our guests, we entrust you with our island. The owners love and respect her and hope you will treat her the same way.

• We strongly prefer a smoke-free stay because of the risk of fire. Smoking is not permitted inside Trappers Cottage. Guests who wish to smoke must obtain the owner’s approval before arrival and confirm where outdoor smoking is permitted. Cigarette butts must be fully extinguished and placed in a suitable fire-safe receptacle, never discarded on the ground or in the water. Smoking may be prohibited entirely when fire conditions warrant.
• For your safety, let Stephen, our 24/7 on-site island manager, know where you plan to go every day.
• Boating: No boat driving at night with the rental cabin boats. The river has many rocks. Let the Stephen know where you plan to go every day. We will also inform you of the surrounding waters and hazard area to be aware of.
• Driving under the influence of alcohol is illegal on the river.
• Try to keep noise to a minimum on the island, especially after 9:00 pm, as many are trying to relax and enjoy the peace.
• Accidents happen. Let Stephen know if you have one.
• The cottages rented are the personal property of the owners. Please treat your cottage as if it were yours.

Our island is truly magical but it will only stay that way if you respect her dignity. For those who appreciate her a return invitation is always extended.
